Reference: This web quest can be done in two different ways. If it is done entirely out of the classroom the teacher needs do nothing more than create groups in which the students can do the best work together and await the finish product. If you would prefer more structure than that having the students complete the assignment in stages might make for a better final product. The assignment should take about two weeks to complete. One week of researching and investigating the golden ratio as a group. The second week is done mostly with the independent work with creating their own characters and then finally having them complete their presentation. The presentations should take one to two class periods. The content standards addressed in this assignment are: 1.1 Understand and describe patterns and functional relationships. 3.1 Use properties and characteristics of two- and three- dimensional shapes and geometric theorems to describe relationships, communicate ideas and solve problems. 3.3 Develop and apply units, systems, formulas and appropriate tools to estimate and measure.
