Many people don't see or realize this connection to their lives and math so they assume math is useless.  These people are incredibly wrong.  We live in a world that is surrounded by math in one sense or another.  Some connections between math and the real world are very obvious but their connection goes unnoticed.  An example of using algebra in daily life would be buying food for a party.  Everyone knows some of their friends can eat more than others and when they are preparing for the party they use algebra to figure out how much food to get.  Now they do not sit down with a piece of paper, pencil, and a calculator to figure this out they do it in their head while also estimating which is another math related topic.

    The purpose of this project is to open your eyes a little about the applications of math in areas that is often not seen as a math related topic.  In this project you will be observing proportions on certain aspects of human body and its connection to a sense of beauty.  Through this you will learn about the "golden ratio" and its relation to beauty and art.
